WHEN IN ANTWERP
Currently residing in Antwerp. I know I know- Antwerp, where and what is Antwerp. Antwerp is in Belgium, home of the diamond district and more importantly french fries!
It is also one of the 6 fashion capitals in the world having one of the most competitive fashion academies. Who knew! Anyway I thought my first entries would be a travel guide to when in Antwerp, a much underestimated city which I have come to love over the last 10 months.
From fab fashion ( Dries Van Noten to Maison Margiela) to the most amazing gourmet restaurants, electric nightlife and all the chocolate that you can eat!
Ok so what shops to see When in Antwerp:
- Ra- Concept store to die for- for all independent fashion lovers - this is location numero uno!
- Labels Inc- For all you bargain hunters who want to be decked out in fab fashion this is the place to be!
-Elsa- wacky but gorgeous shoes- from leather to plastic to neon and studding. A little gem of a store
-Dries Van Noten- One of Antwerp's notorious brands with a flagship store to challenge any of those in NYC
-Step by Step- a hidden boutique with a window filled with Barbies. Bugger the clothes- check out the dolls!
What Restaurants and bars to go to When in Antwerp:
- Josephine's- sexy cocktails and amazing food wrapped up in a living room style interior
- De Muze- live jazz and cool ambiance
- Claude's Tea Salon- every gal's dream living room as a mini restaurant parlour
- Felix Bakheus-' Let's do brunch!' by the water- huge space with an ever changing brunch menu
-Mampoko- Traditional Belgium surrounding with a very Woody Allenesk decor ( you feel as if you need a fag and an espresso to watch the world go by)
What clubs to go to When in Antwerp:
- Stereo six- deep in the trendy south of Antwerp surrounded by all the bars
- Kissinger- an event which changes its location more than I change my handbags
- Ra parties- for all those fashionistas
- Kelly Splinter- a summer party event which is so secretive morse code wouldn't be able to crack this one
- Strantwerpen- lounge on beds with cocktails looking more regal than the Cleopatra herself.
