When in Fashion is supporting Great British Talent

Great British Talent

Every now and then When in Fashion supports great causes. Causes that are digitally related, marketing related and of course- Fashion related.

I would like to share with you all the event for Nottingham Trent University- of Fashion and Textile management. The final year Grad show for the class of 2012. The theme this year is 'Great British Talent' showcasing the final year students work spanning over a time period of four years.

With a kitsch, quirky and retro theme incorporating a modern spin of integrating new digital innovations to move with the times. Showing work from students who have spent a year in industry in roles such as: Buying, merchandising, marketing communications and garment technology it highlights the best in british fashion business. With experiences in brands such as Wrangler, Debenhams, River Island, Timberland, Starworks, Asos, Marks and Spencer ( and that's just to name a few) these students have pushed the boundaries of working in fashion and are opening their doors to you and industry experts to celebrate in their four years of work.

A little spoiler of what the room could look like - Interactive frames in a nostalgic gallery space showing four years worth of fashion and textile management work. But you will have to show up on the night to find out what the Great British Talent has to offer!

Mr Midnight! Helping lonely Londoners find luv!

Valentines day just got very very cool!

Frankie Midnight is the cool new creation of Isobar mobile one of the UK’s leading mobile marketing agencies, this Valentines day.

It is a campaign launched to help you figure out if he or she likes you! The concept draws from the traditional anxiety surrounding Valentines Day, the creative takes customers on a digital journey via their handsets and seeks to answer the eternal question, ‘Does s/he love me.

Inspired by film noir, the campaign shows in over 300 high-profile sites in London and Manchester, promoting either a ‘Does He Love Me?’ or ‘Does She Love Me?’ title. Each poster features a QR code or URL call-to-action, which pushes consumers to a purpose built HTML5 site.

A great interactive experience with a suave new character to help find you luv in the city!

WHEN IN VINTAGE HEAVEN - The Mad Hatter has some serious Style

A very vintage tea party!

Now imagine if you would, that you are preparing for the mad hatters tea party and you need trendy china wear and lots of tea cups and vintage table cloths. Where will you buy on bulk??! So much to do so little time!

'Vintage Heaven is your treasure trove of retro and mid-century objets d'art, opening up the world of yesteryear to one and all.' I couldn't have said it better myself!

Every collection is colour coordinated and almost sets out a table setting for you with beautiful patterns, shapes and textures. You feel immersed in a history of possible table settings, and you don't know which one to pick, so you decide on a melange of all colour options, creating a cool retro vibe.

This is a great place to go mill around, check out the little coffee place at the back of the shop for afternoon tea and cake, with beautiful mixed and match teapots and teacups.

WHEN IN KOSOSO-It is SO much more affordable !

That's what I want!

You literally stop, stare and wonder where to start. Think of all the jewellery you find in Topshop, Anthrapology, boutiques down the King's Road or Portabello...all the gems that you pick up, admire and then put down because the price tag is half your rent....it is all here...it is all the same and it is all so affordable!!

Hidden on a road filled with furniture shops, this is an unlikely yet surprising find. Very similar to a showroom this place is full of amazing little gems. You have to walk around a few times to take in the sheer volume of products and choice, yet you can't help yourself by saying ' Oooo that one...and that one ....oh and I want that one too!!'

From ornate bangles of raw cut semi precious rocks, to wooden necklaces and silver beads, costume jewellery galore, suede bags and silk this is a great find in the most unlikely place in Marrakech. You literally want to fill a basket full of fab pieces and tell people back home that you bought it for half the price they did ( and you have 3 in different colours!!!)

But your love won't pay my Jewellery bills

WHEN IN MISHKIN'S - Match maker, has found me a find!

Oi Vey - A Deli with a Cocktail?!

Coming back from NYC, one would think that you couldn't find a good place for a salt beef sandwich and a nice chicken soup and matzo balls. Well you ( I) was wrong. Please forgive me in this post when I write in the appropriate language of yiddish....

So my bubbelehs. I want to tell you a geshikhte of place where even your bubbies can't compete with. Oi, Oi veys mir!! Mishkin's is a hagodl version of the jewish deli, but with cocktails! Oi ve voy !!! ( lots of shrugging of the shoulders and erratic hand movements!)

If you want a retro place to eat at, with the element of New York delis, with the beat of the blues, a great cocktail and the fantastic home wear interior inspiration, then you gotta try out Mishkin's!

The dark, yet too cool for school interior mixed with the gorgeous aroma of home made cooking, makes you feel chilled and utterly relaxed. You almost feel like you have been going there for years.

A great place to go with friends, or if you are looking to dare to be different on a first date- then this is the place to impress!!
